Abstract

An article on Ashrae Journal, May 2018, discusses the impacts of sudden not forecasted climate changes on the behavior of the building systems, particularly on their energy consumption. The present system designing technique is based on climate conditions generally accepted and standardized. Major task of the designer is to provide a system that is not harmful to our planet Earth, in other words trying to "mitigate" as much as possible his impact on the ambient. However sudden and grave changes in the ambient conditions are becoming more and more frequent. For this reason, the designer reasoning should now switch on how to protect his system from those changes, i.e. to "adapt" the system to future sudden and unforecasted events. Mathematical models on future atmospheric conditions have been studied and are available to help. Two obstacles should be overcome: a general skepticism on the models validity and, most of all, the customer natural reluctance to any additional expenses for provisions which do not appear of certain entity and imminent use. The designer is asked a resilient effort in his study that at present is of not sure recognition.
