Abstract

A measurement plan is mandatory in order to define system efficiency.
The performance of any system, during all different working conditions is available only through specific and continuous measurements. Many times, a lot of counters and sensors are installed on the systems, but, as well, many times the data are not part of a general strategy and they are not logged in a useful way to get the real Global System Performance. A standard protocol could make easier data logging, their understanding and, therefore, could provide useful information about energy performance, furthermore, as the protocol is a standard could be applied on several different buildings or systems. The data logging should be implemented on a EMS which will provide general strategies to carry out the best performance as possible for the whole facility. Through the continuous commissioning the planned strategy can be applied and tested. Continuous Commissioning (CCx) practice integrates the Energy Manager activities, helps to identify any issue on the system and checks continuously the system performance; at the same time CCx can provide the Maintenance Staff and/or the Energy Manager the right information to keep on the same results for a long time. For the above reasons it is clear that the Measurement Plan, the EMS and the CCx are tightly related and connected each other.
