Abstract

In the design phase, the use of software tools can help to simulate the way a refrigeration plant will act, but, in real life, performances may be different from theoretical expected results. During the past few years, the research focused on natural refrigerant to contain emissions in atmosphere with significant benefits for the environment. Use of energy saving solutions makes CO2 competitive compared to subcritical cycles also in warm climates. After getting performance data from several refrigeration plants in supermarket in Italy, we compared some of them using R744 with others using conventional R134a/R744 cascade. Different installation have different characteristics like cooling loads, geographic location, technology; we tried to choose the right stores to "normalize" all those differences and, after data analysis, evaluate which of them can helps final customers to save energy and money.
