Abstract
ISPRA is carrying out an agreement with the Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea for the implementation of a study on the HFC alternatives in the sector of refrigeration, air conditioning, foams, aerosol, fire protection. This is the first time that the Italian Government carries out a study on HFC alternatives of substances and new technologies, and it was a hard job to collect info and data because there was no such picture concerning Italy until now. At the end of our investigation it is clear that although Italy is not a producer of refrigerants Italian companies are engaged in the research and development of new technologies. Unlike the great Japanese and US producers, in our country there are world leading companies in the refrigeration, air conditioning, foams and fixed fire-fighting systems on international markets thanks to their innovative technologies, the customization of the products according to the needs of the customer, to climatic and local conditions just like a tailored suit.
