Abstract
Important changes regarding Fire Prevention regulations have been taking place. The article describes the changes relating to commercial activities, especially the new Vertical Technical Rule (RTV) wich allows to discuss the problem with the new approach introduced by the Fire Prevention Code. Attention is drawn to the changes, also valid for other activities, related to the refrigerants that can be used in machines for air conditioning systems. Also are illustrated the technical and economic advantages attainable by providing dual purpose systems, air conditioning and smoke and heat control, where possible.
