Abstract
Ashrae Standard 15 is a CMP standard, Continuous Maintenance Process standard. As such it is subject to continuous improvements and revisions issued via Addendums on an ongoing base without any fixed schedule. This article presents the recently introduced major changes including Addendum a which is finally deferring to ANSI/ AHRI2 all safety regulations pertaining to ammonia and relevant systems; this way clearing an embarrassing challenge for designer and users created by two similar standards to be addressed to. Addendum d and h deal with the newly classified refrigerants presenting low flammability potential, 2L, with specific requirements both for occupied space and machinery rooms. Other minor changes are described in Addendum b, removing restrictions of A3 refrigerants in small self-contained units, Addendum c on the value of set-point for leak detectors, Addendum e on addition of small quantities of different refrigerant, and Addendum f with an ample review of some property tables.
