Abstract
The International Regulation, such as the recent European Union F-Gas regulation 517/2014, and the continuous increasing of the cost of HFCs are pushing the demand of alternative eco-friendly refrigerants. The truck refrigeration systems have been coping with this reduction process for a few years so far and the gained knowledge and experience can be easily transferred to over refrigeration fields. Since 2015, some refrigerant manufactures have been proposing the R452A as possible drop-in substitute of R404A, but unfortunately, according to F-gas regulation, this solution will be allowed to be used till 2022. In this scenario, a dedicated research activity to identify possible long-term substitutes of HFCs is surely needed. This paper presents the main results achieved by the University of Padova.
